Mini Sessions Available!

I'm going to be in Roxboro, NC June 7,8, & 9 for my cousin's graduation. I will be available for minis during that time as well. The cost is only $40 and you reserve me for 30 minutes. I put all the images with edits on a CD & sign a letter of release allowing you to get the pictures printed at a lab of your choosing. I don't do mini sessions often, so be sure to take advantage!

cap & gown

I was able to go back to my old high school this weekend to do some cap & gown pictures.
There is a huge boulder that is painted blue every year. It's kept at the football field & the school records the wins on it. Unfortunately, as you can tell from the picture, they didn't do so well this year.
It was a little strange going back. Before this, I had only been back twice. I'll be able to go again come graduation day!
Congratulations to my cousin, Shane, and his parents for all the hard work & dedication!

the beach

Last evening after I got off work, we decided to drive down to the beach. The wind was blowing so hard! The waves were ridiculously choppy, but it would have been a surfer's dream. This shows you how hard the wind was blowing:
That blurriness is from the wind making my tripod shake.

I was able to get this done though:
Hopefully it's not so windy today!

Benefit

As I wrote before, my father-in-law passed away recently. Due to circumstances, there is a pile of medical bills that need to be paid. There will be a benefit to help cover those final expenses. I have been able to donate a couple of prints and an amateur photography set for the raffle and silent auction. There are many other items up for grabs. For more information, to bid on an item, or purchase raffle tickets, please go to this website.

Easter

Easter this year was very bittersweet for my family. My husband's dad was very, very sick and passed away the Tuesday after Easter. My sister, though, decided to bring her kids down to distract us and bring some joy.

My niece has her very first dance recital coming up & she's so excited! This is one of her 2 costumes. She spent the whole weekend dancing around our place, showing off her moves, and giggling. She's such a happy kid!

My niece is 4!

We got my niece a camera for her bday:
It was a hit.

For the record, my husband spoils the kids more than I do.
That may not be completely true.
Not bad for my husband's first time using my camera! He's used to used to using my prosumer camera, not the SLR.

All in all, a fun weekend!

Jo-Jah

We went to Georgia to visit my husband's family after not seeing them for almost 2 years! We weren't able to get down there while we lived in Idaho and tried to make up for it.

I didn't get a ton of pictures while I was down there. I had a really bad reaction to something I ate so I wasn't feeling well for the most part.

I promise to make up for it next time.

It's hot!

It's still so warm here I forget it's winter. I mean, like 70s. Yeah, very different from the -20s I experienced in Idaho.

So, once spring actually comes around, it's just going to get hotter. And summer....fugetaboutit!

a wedding

The weekend before Christmas was very busy for me! I had 2 weddings!! Here are some pictures from one of the weddings:

I was able to capture the groom's first look at
the bride in her dress!
This sums up the bride's personality in 1 picture!

I've known the bride for some time now. I met her older sister in 2nd grade & became close to the entire family after I got married. I've seen the bride become a beautiful person, inside & out! I'm so happy for these guys!

a wedding

Remember how I had 2 weddings in 1 weekend? This is the other wedding. They've been planning to get married, but never found the right time. Since the husband was getting deployed again right after the holidays, they decided to get married the weekend before Christmas. I've known the bride since we were 4 and she has found the perfect guy for her! It was fun following her around while she got ready, meeting her friends, and squeezing into the magistrate's office with all of their guests. Thanks for including me guys!

The shoes

The bride. She was such a good sport! She let me
do a "white trash bridal shoot" while she was
wearing her grandma's housecoat.

This was my way of getting her grandpa in some pictures :)

I love the look on her dad's face. She is daddy's little girl!

1st birthday party

I was invited to shoot a little cutie's very first birthday party! The theme was Elmo!

He was more interested in the paper than anything else.

The demolished this cake!

sisters!

These sweet girls wanted to give their grandparents a Christmas surprise. We went to the local arboretum to get these shots.

I got this shot early in the morning, just as the sun was really
starting to rise. The clouds and trees gave a really awesome
filtering effect for the sun's rays.

Christmas Morning Pictures

I'm here to save the day! Or, at least help with it.

I know you want to capture your sweet bundles of joy opening their sweet bundles of joy, so let me lend you a few tips.

Source
1. Change your white balance. It's so easy to do! (I can't help you with this part, read your manual to find out how to do this on your camera.) If you change it to the right white balance you won't have pictures that turn out yellow or green and then freak out about how to fix it later.

2. If possible, bump up your ISO. This will allow your camera to be more sensitive in the low light of morning or if you open presents by the light of the Christmas tree. (Again, check your manual on how to do this.)

3. If possible, keep your shutter speed at 1/125th or higher. This will allow for light, but won't make your pictures blurry (unless your kid is the Tasmanian devil). Keep your aperture as open as possible (meaning, use the lowest number possible). Remember, the lower numbers keep everything behind your subject blurry so if you're trying to take pictures of multiple people you'll need to bump it up.

4. Enjoy the morning! This is time you won't get back so don't spend too much time behind the camera. Get enough pictures to tell the story then put the camera away! Christmas morning is not a spectator sport. Go play with your kids & watch them enjoy their new stuff!

PS-If I don't get too many responses & I'm not too busy, send me an email (burnedimagesphotography(at)gmail(dot)com) and I'll see what I can do about helping you with your camera. Who loves ya baby? ;)

a wedding

On the 27th I had the honor of photographing a wedding for a great couple. They were married at Southern Saddle Stables in Timberlake, NC.

They had a sand ceremony symbolizing their 2 families
(including 3 children) becoming one.

This is love!

Her bouquet...made by yours truly!

The stables catered the food &
decorated the food tables beautifully.

The hay bales courtesy of the stables, as well
as the archway. Aisle decorated by me!

I've never seen a happier couple!

The cake was delicious and made by
Melissa Phillips of Roxboro, NC.

If anyone's interested in the stables or the cake decorator, I have contact information for both.

brothers

I took some pictures for my cousin. Her oldest son is graduating from high school this year & she has another son in 3rd grade. There wasn't one single dull moment during this shoot & there wasn't one single image I didn't love! Here are just a few:

Big announcement!

In order to serve local brides more fully, we now have a registered minister on hand to perform wedding ceremonies!
